Social Media Strategist

About The Role:
The Social Media Strategist will be instrumental in strengthening GAC’s digital voice and 
expanding engagement across all social platforms. This individual will lead content strategy, 
campaign development, analytics, and community management in alignment with the 
Cathedral’s mission and ministry goals.

 

This role requires both creative vision and hands-on execution — someone who can plan with 
intention, produce compelling content rooted in faith and community, and grow meaningful 
digital engagement.


Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth
• Develop and execute innovative social media strategies to increase reach, 
engagement, and brand visibility.
• Build and maintain an annual social media calendar aligned with ministry initiatives, 
events, and liturgical seasons.


Content & Campaigns
• Create compelling multimedia content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X 
(Twitter), LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
• Ideate, launch, and optimize creative campaigns — including video, graphics, reels, and 
livestream content — that highlight stories of faith, service, and community impact.

 

Analysis & Insights
• Track, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics and KPIs.
• Translate data into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Community & Reputation Management
Monitor conversations, engage with followers, and maintain a positive brand presence.
Support crisis communications by identifying issues early and coordinating timely, appropriate 
responses.


Governance & Training
• Maintain social media governance standards, ensuring consistent voice, style, and 
adherence to best practices.
• Train ministry teams, clergy, and volunteers on social media usage and best practices.

 

Collaboration
• Partner with internal departments (Worship, Discipleship, Youth, Outreach, Events, 
Education) to amplify messages and initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with external vendors, influencers, and partners when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in social media strategy or digital content creation (church, 
nonprofit, or mission-driven experience is a plus).
• Strong writing, storytelling, and creative conceptual skills.
• Proficiency in Canva and social editing tools; ability to produce engaging short-form video content.
• Familiarity with analytics and scheduling platforms (Hootsuite, Later, Sprout, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced ministry environment.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong understanding of emerging digital trends and AI-driven tools.
• Experience working within faith-based or community-centered organizations preferred.

 

Role Specific 
Location: Greater Allen Cathedral (Jamaica, NY)
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Work schedule: Sunday a must / 35-hour work week / Hybrid
Salary Range: $58,000 – $65,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Graphic Designer

The Graphic designer will be part of a team of designers responsible for handling a heavy creative design /print production workload. Autonomously working quickly, efficiently and with strong attention to detail on simultaneous multiple design projects from start to finish. Well versed in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop and staying on trend with technology updates. Additionally, responsible for prioritizing projects, adhering to deadlines, meeting with clients/ ministries and the communications team, to share creative ideas and develop creative products that achieve the desired outcomes within the organization’s guidelines.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Must submit a portfolio of commissioned work.
 
Minimum Education:  Bachelors’ Degree with Certification in Graphic Design from an accredited provider.  2-5 years of experience in an evidenced, high volume output department.
 
Critical Qualities & Skills:

·         Self-starter
·         Team player
·         Willing to go the extra mile for the organization
·         Some web design experience preferred
·         Excellent command of grammar, editing, proofreading, strong attention to detail.
·         Coordinated and executed a heavy print production /creative design workload with multiple projects simultaneously, from start to finish.

 
Proficiency:

·         Microsoft Office
·         Graphic Design
·         Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Muse is a plus, MAC + PC
