Greetings in the name of our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
On Sunday, December 5, 2021, The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York will celebrate First Fruit Sunday. We believe that before we engage in the giving of gifts at Christmas, we should take the opportunity to give God the First Fruit of our harvest. Therefore, on the first Sunday in December, we will celebrate the goodness of God by bringing First Fruit Offering, equivalent to one week’s salary.
The concept of the First Fruit Offering is rooted in Biblical truth and is found in Deuteronomy 26:9-11. We see that this offering is to be given to the Lord in thanksgiving for the generous and manifold blessings that God has so graciously given to us.
As we know, 2020 and 2021 have brought many great challenges to our community and our great nation due to the very aggressive and widespread Covid-19 health crisis that shattered the normalcy of our worlds. Although none of us could imagine all of the events that happened these past two years, through God's grace and mercy, we are still standing.
Throughout the pandemic, God blessed our church with opportunities to feed the hungry, distribute gifts to children and families in need, and stay connected virtually for prayer and worship experiences. In keeping with our mission, we continue to expand the kingdom by transforming lives.
As 2021 comes to a close, please prayerfully consider giving a special, year-end offering of one week’s salary. Your special gift will help us to continue to transform lives in the community and the world. Your prayers, love, and support allows The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York to meet the needs of many, even throughout the Covid-19 health crisis.
If you are not led to give a First Fruit Offering, please give a special sacrificial offering, over and above your tithe. We are praying with you as you present your best to the Lord, just as God has given us His very best in His Son Jesus Christ.
Peace & Blessings,
The Rev. M. Elaine Flake, D.Min.
