Rev. Edwin C. Reed
Rev. Edwin Reed, Chief Financial Officer since 1996, has established himself as a leader in the area of community development of the Greater Allen Cathedral located in Jamaica Queens, New York. The Allen organization with funding of more than $31 million annually rehabilitates communities by sponsoring affordable housing, developing and managing about 14 commercial stores, operating a community service center and providing quality education for over 500 students in a structured Christian environment for children Pre-Kindergarten 3 through the 8th grade. Other projects include a 300-unit senior citizen housing development, a senior citizen feeding and recreational center and a residential safe haven for battered women and children. Three new programs are a national model of Faith Based Welfare to Work, the construction of an additional 330 units of senior citizen housing and urban economic redevelopment of a 15 block mixed-use corridor.
The growth and success of Allen AME Church arises from the vision and leadership skills of its pastor, Rev. Congressman Floyd H. Flake, D. Min. and co- pastor, Rev. M. Elaine Flake, D. Min. Rev. Floyd Flake has been the pastor for twenty-six years during which time the church has grown from a membership of 1200 in 1976 to over 20,000 today.
In 1986, Rev. Edwin Reed accepted the position of Campaign Manager in Rev. Flake's race for the 6th Congressional district in Queens. In 1987, Rev. Reed became Chief of Staff for Rev. Congressman Floyd H. Flake. Prior to becoming involved in public policy, Rev. Reed managed the $6 billion liquid asset portfolio for General Motors and the financial analyst for Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac. Cadillac, Buick and GM of Canada. Rev. Reed gained his initial financial experience as a banker at First Tennessee Bank in Memphis, Tennessee.
Rev. Reed earned a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1979, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memphis State University and is a matriculating student for a Masters of Divinity at Virginia Union University. Rev. Edwin Reed finds fulfillment in serving others and making improvements in the lives of everyone that he touches. Therefore, he currently serves on the boards of the following organizations:

Rev. Reed is married to Rev. Mary Smith Reed, M.D. They have been blessed with a son, Elkanah, and two daughters, Adia and Keturah.
